What is collected
When you tap a button to send your request on WhatsApp or by email, the website also sends John a copy of it. The copy holds:
- your name, phone number, preferred date and any notes
- the collection and drop-off postcodes, and any address lines you typed
- the job: what's being moved, stairs, and whether a second person is needed
- the estimate you were shown, with its van miles
- the message itself, whether you chose WhatsApp or email, and when it was sent
- a scrambled code made from your internet address and the day, used only to limit how many requests one sender can make in a day (your internet address itself is not kept)
Nothing goes to John before you tap.
Why it is kept
So John can get back to you and arrange the job.
Where it goes
- An email to John's inbox. The email is delivered by Resend, an email delivery service.
- A database the website runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the site. This is the list John's admin panel shows.
- Your own WhatsApp message or email goes through WhatsApp or your email provider, like any other message.
How long it is kept
Until John deletes it. Nothing is deleted automatically, so if you would like yours gone, just ask.
Who sees it
John only. Cloudflare and Resend only store or carry it for John, and it isn't shared with anyone else.
A copy, or deleting it
To see what is kept about you, or to have it deleted, call or email John.
If you are unhappy with how your details have been handled, you can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Getting a price
To work out a price, the two postcodes and your answers about the job go to the website, which looks up the route with free map services. Your name, phone number and notes are not part of that, and none of it goes to John until you tap send.
As you type an address line, it is looked up with Photon, a free map search, to suggest addresses.
The calculator keeps your answers in this browser tab only, so a refresh or a look at another page doesn't lose them. They are cleared when you close the tab, and your name, phone number and notes are never kept there.
To stop the site being flooded, it counts requests from each internet address for a short while. That count is held in memory and not saved (the daily limit on sent requests uses the scrambled code above).
