Pricing
How accurate is the instant quote?
It is a genuine estimate, not a teaser. It uses the real driving distance and drive time for the whole trip the van makes, including the drive out to your collection address, plus an allowance for loading and unloading. John checks it and confirms the final price before anything is booked. If something about the job changes the price, you will hear about it up front.
Why are the van miles more than I expected?
They cover the whole trip the van makes, not just the distance between your two addresses: from John's base to the collection, on to the drop-off, then back to base. Your estimate shows them on their own line.
What is included in the price?
The van, the driving, the fuel, and the loading and unloading time. The breakdown on your estimate shows each part separately: hourly charge, mileage, the Load fee for your type of load, and any extras you have chosen such as stairs or a second person.
Why do you need the postcodes?
The price depends on how far the van travels and how long the job takes, so the calculator needs both ends of the trip: the collection and the drop-off. The postcodes are enough: the address lines are optional and only go into your booking message.
Why is there a minimum charge?
Even a five-minute job means getting the van out, driving to you and driving back. Short local jobs are charged at the minimum, which is shown clearly on your estimate whenever it applies.
On the day
Do you help with the lifting?
Yes, loading and unloading are part of the job. For anything heavy or awkward, tick “Second person needed” in the calculator and a second pair of hands is added to the price.
What about stairs, lifts or difficult parking?
Tick the stairs box in the calculator and it is added to the estimate. If parking is tricky or there is a long carry, add it to the “Anything John should know?” box before you send your request, so the time allowed can be adjusted before the day.
How far will you travel?
Local and regional jobs are priced straight away by the calculator. If your route is longer than it handles, it will say so and ask you to get in touch instead. Long trips are still very welcome.
Is there anything you cannot take?
PLACEHOLDER: John to confirm what cannot be carried (for example hazardous materials, livestock, or items above a certain weight) and any size limits for the van.
Booking and paying
How do I book?
Get your estimate, add your name and number (plus anything John should know, such as parking or a lift), then tap “Send on WhatsApp”. That opens WhatsApp with everything already filled in, so you just press send. If you prefer email, “Send by email instead” opens the same message in your email app. John then confirms the price and a time with you.
How can I pay?
Card via Stripe, bank transfer or cash, whichever suits you best. John will sort out the details with you once the booking is confirmed.
Are you insured?
PLACEHOLDER: John to write this answer, listing only cover that is actually held (for example goods in transit or public liability) with the correct details. Nothing has been assumed.
